Last year we bought a camper trailer to make it more comfortable camping. As we all love camping but not sleeping on air mattresses. Camping is also an easy option with the young man as he can run around lots and he loves it too.
After Christmas and New Year we went to Rock Flat Campground in Kosciuszko National Park which was a primitive camp spot – the only facility was a long drop toilet.
However it was a great place to just hang out and spend some time together. A couple of kilometres down the road was the Thomas Boyd Trackhead for the Hume and Hovell walk, we walked along the river for a couple of K’s. The young man loved climbing over the fences, like this:
There was a campground at the trackhead too, which had flushing toilets and electric BBQs.
We also spent time in the river swimming and playing, it was quite cold, but nice on the hot days.

I even got the young man to calm down and relax, by playing cards with him Junior Winnie the Pooh UNO and go fish. UNO was a great maths lesson as we played multiple rounds with scoring and we got him to add up the points at the end of each hand.
The boys also went fishing.

The campground wasn’t that busy, there were a couple of other groups and plenty of day trippers, but wasn’t cramped or noisy. We got to camp nice and close to the river:
